CalStateTEACH California State University Monterey Bay, Google CAPE
Faculty Advisor
Santa Clara / MTV
Born and raised in Santa Clara Valley California, I have watched the transformation of Silicon Valley go from Fruit Orchards to Silicon Chips to Internet Giants. My interest for technology developed while attending St. Francis High School in Mountain View CA. I took my first programming class in BASIC, which, I was forced to take at Foothill Junior College as a result of Computer Science not being offered at the High School Level at that time. I went on to graduate from the California State University system with a degree in Business Administration. After an illustrious career in the Beer business working for MLB All Star Joe Morgan I went back to school to complete my California teaching Credential and later a Masters in Education - Instructional Technology.
I recently ended a 19 year Middle School teaching career focused on Technology and Mathematics to join the ranks of the California State University CalStateTEACH faculty as a credential advisor. As a member of the Google Certified Teacher network class of MTV '08 many doors were opened for me including a position as one of the pioneer instructors for the Google CAPE Summer program which included a position as the CAPE Program Faculty and Curriculum Advisor. I provide professional development workshops and seminars at school sites and education conferences all centered on the integration of digital technology into the student learning experience.
I have lived a blessed life and am constantly amazed at the people that I have crossed paths with over the years. I’m the grandson of a famous college basketball coach and I attribute most aspects of my character to the lessons I learned from him. I am a husband and my children have all been of the 4 legged furry canine variety. I have traveled the world extensively and each of life’s experiences seem to fuel my passion for learning. I am a life-long learner and hope to inspire others to join me in the journey on this big blue ball.
